UEE32220 – Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

Overview

Learn how to select, install, test, commission, fault find and repair refrigeration systems and air conditioning systems.

This course satisfies the requirements for workers applying for a (RAC01) Refrigerant Handling Licence with the Australian Refrigeration Council and the Mechanical Services – Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration – occupational licence with the QBCC.

Who is this course for?

To take this course, you must be at least one of the following:

  • This course is being offered to qualified electricians who have previously completed Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems.

  • Professional plumbing workers may be eligible to complete this qualification if they have previously completed the Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems and their Restricted Electrical Licence.

Please Note: This course is currently only available in Brisbane.

Course Outline

Step 1: The first step is a pre-assessment aiming to understand your current employment status and whether you may be able to undertake on-the-job training or if you will require extra in-class training to develop your skills for this qualification.

Step 2: The second step is a self-evaluation of your own current skills and knowledge around each of the units of competency within the course.

Step 3: The third step is verification of your prior qualification for your enrolment in the UEE32220 - Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Brisbane course. You will upload evidence related to your work experience to be used during your RPL (Recognition of prior learning) assessment. This evidence will need to include your Certificate II qualification and an unrestricted electrical licence.

Step 4: The fourth step is a competency conversation with one of our assessors to determine your current knowledge and skills as well as what gaps you may have in the necessary units of competency for any recognition of prior learning applied for your self-evaluation.

Step 5: The fifth step is a practical challenge test for electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration tasks with oral questions related to each of the tasks. Completed at a Get Skilled Training venue.

Step 6: At this point you will start your face to face training, moving to online learning as you gain further on-the-job experience needed to satisfy the additional training requirements and hours for this qualification.

Step 7: Upon successful completion of all face to face training and assessment, on-the-job experience as well as capstone assessment, you will be awarded your qualification in UEE32220 Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration which is an eligible to obtain a full refrigeration handing licence with the ARC.

Step 8: Apply to the ARC to obtain your full refrigeration handling licence.
